Trailer: Casey Affleck Haunts Rooney Mara in A Ghost Story

A Ghost Story Rooney Mara

You’re probably going to see a hundred posts on Facebook today about the new Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer, but you won’t want to miss this first look at writer/director David Lowery new movie.

Using funds earned from Pete’s Dragon, Lowery and his Aint Them Bodies Saints stars Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara went off and made a movie in secret, premiering the film to great success at Sundance earlier this year. Affleck plays a dead man who returns to his house to haunt his wife at the home where they lived. Affleck’s character continues to haunt the house for decades, to come.

A Ghost Story looks gorgeous, and Lowery continues to prove himself as one of the most versatile and exciting directors working today and I’m glad it found a home with A24. I’m curious to see how this performs at the box office, since Lowrey isn’t exactly known to bring in the big bucks. Aside from the fact that this opens next to Spider-Man: Homecoming, I’m curious to see how Affleck’s post-Oscar career plays out, especially given the stories that dominated that campaign.

A Ghost Story opens July 7,.

I never knew how movies could make your imagination soar until I saw "Star Wars," I never realized how inspiring they could be until I saw "Rocky," and I never truly appreciated film until I saw "Goodfellas." Film has been a central part of my life as long as I can remember and it continues to mold who I am. My " movies to watch" list is miles longer than my "movies I have watched" list. My only regret is not having enough time to watch them all.
