I've always loved movies, but it wasn't until under the tutelage of Professor Garry Leonard at the University of Toronto that my passion for the industry became an understanding of an art form. With a specific fascination in both the western genre and Asian cinema in general, I am of the view that good movies are either enlightening or entertaining, and if you are truly lucky they are both.

Titanic, (Lucas, 1977)? Nice revisionist history there lol. Didn’t figure you as a Star Wars fan. :P

I am now commenting via my Twitter account. What an age we live in. Uhm. Yeah. Interesting lists. Lots of variety. But more of my votes should obviously be here. Just sayin….

Lots of variety indeed. Nice that there only some overlap. ‘The Hurt Locker’ ranking so high is really surprising to me. I mean, it’s good don’t get me wrong.

My mistake. Thanks for pointing out the error. What you think of the lists?

I’m shocked “Titanic” made it, I thought everyone hated it and I’d be the only one who loved its corniness…yay though!

Agreed. Hurt Locker is a solid movie, but among the great Best Pictures of all time? Not sure.

    That goes triple for Titanic.

A little shocked the Godfather did not even crack the top ten, however, the other picks that were made were solid and fair choices. Its somewhat hard to narrow down a list of 10 with such great movies out there, however, this list itself seems to be one that is fair and just. Keep up the excellent work! Awaiting the latest movie review from Chris and the first movie review from Vakeesh!

Yea I agree with you on that Chris. Hurt Locker was ranked quite high by the Next Projection community.

At least, ‘Crash’ didn’t make an appearance or else I’d be angry.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-D-Misch/28134555 Chris D. Misch

I’m with you on this one, though like many I have to admit I have a soft spot for ‘Titanic’.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-D-Misch/28134555 Chris D. Misch

Guess that means you have a real original Top Ten, which is cool in itself.

Though it didn’t make my list, ‘Titanic’ will always be a great film in my mind. Not just from a purely visual standpoint, but from a romantic one as well. I wonder how big of an actor Leo would have become if it wasn’t for this film. This really put him on the map and catapulted his career.

I have to admit to being impartial to gangster flicks, but I can appreciate the greatness of ‘The Godfather’. There’s just ten other Best Picture Winners I enjoy more.

And it was hard narrowing down to 10. And thanks for the kind comments.

    Thanks my man.

Some risky and honest choices on your part. Braveheart and The English Patient are really divisive, which makes me wanna actually check them out.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-D-Misch/28134555 Chris D. Misch

If I had to pick out of those two, I’d say you’re more likely to prefer ‘The English Patient’. Just seems like something you’d appreciate.

Glad to see some love given to Casablanca and Unforgiven. Though I’m surprised to see neither Godfather films made your personal list.

I’m usually impartial to gangster movies, and I’ll admit The Godfather is certainly one of the best them. Maybe one of our next top tens we’ll strictly focus of gangster movies. Now, that should get some great discussion going.
