I've always loved movies, but it wasn't until under the tutelage of Professor Garry Leonard at the University of Toronto that my passion for the industry became an understanding of an art form. With a specific fascination in both the western genre and Asian cinema in general, I am of the view that good movies are either enlightening or entertaining, and if you are truly lucky they are both.

Interesting you didn’t have Saw 1 in your list. I personally think Silence of the lamb should rank a bit higher then Zodiac.

Saw is a decent enough serial killer flick, though no where near some of the best in the genre.

It crossed my mind to include Badlands, even though it kind of stands out from the others, which are in more of a horror/suspense mode. Perhaps a “Best Outlaw Lovers” list should be in the cards. :)

I prefer Zodiac to The Silence of the Lambs, but no matter which one we all prefer, one thing is sure and that is both films are exceptional examples of the serial killer genre done right, and for different reasons.

Any time I see a Malick make an appearance, I’m pleased. That’s a good idea, thanks!

Being that Fincher is my favorite director I’ve seen his films on the list. Glad to see those two films made the list. Although I think that Zodiac is better than Seven. Still need to see most of the films on the list though.

For me, it’s a tough toss up between Zodiac and Se7en. Could go either way one them.

No offense, just out of curiosity, for your top ten, how do you rank it?? like you base on acting? story script? lighting? shooting? etc..

No country for Old men? Citizen X?! Bone collector….

I thought about included No Country for Old Men, but I came to the conclusion that it’s not really a serial killer movie.

Oh, and good call on Bone Collector, that was a lot of fun.

American Psycho is probably my favourite serial killer movie. I’d also throw in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer for consideration
