Trailer: Restless

by Christopher Misch

Directed by Gus Van Sant, this is a story of a terminally ill teenage girl who falls for a boy who likes to attend funerals and their encounters with the ghost of a Japanese kamikaze pilot from WWII.

I've always loved movies, but it wasn't until under the tutelage of Professor Garry Leonard at the University of Toronto that my passion for the industry became an understanding of an art form. With a specific fascination in both the western genre and Asian cinema in general, I am of the view that good movies are either enlightening or entertaining, and if you are truly lucky they are both.

Sign me up, this one looks awesome.

I’m pretty excited about this movie. I’ll though it’s frustrating how long the trailers been around. I want gratification much quicker than this.

What are your thoughts on Van Sant in general?

  • Christopher Misch

    Patience my dear man, patience…

Hit and miss. but when he hits, it’s a home run: Loved Milk, Loved Elephant, Loved Drugstore Cowboy, Loved Private Idaho.

Van San has been hit or miss for me as well, with #GoodWillHunting and Milk being my favourites. What did you think of Gerry and Paranoid Park?

  • MJ

okay, actually, I’d like to withdraw Private Idaho and replace it with To Die For, which I loved. Idaho had moments but it didn’t stay with me. Gerry I own and haven’t watched yet. Paranoid Park I know nothing about.

Gerry is an interesting experiment by Van Sant. It’s not entirely successful, but it sure looks good.
