With three straight films that went on to be box office hits and major Oscar contenders, it’s safe to say that David O. Russell’s career has hit an exciting new stride. His latest film, Joy, marks his third collaboration with Jennifer Lawrence, and is all but guaranteed to be in the conversation come awards season.
Lawrence stars as Joy Mangano, the creator of Ingenious Designs who went on to make $1 billion in sales. Written and directed by O. Russell, the film also stars Robert De Niro, Robert De Niro, Edgar Ramirez, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Isabella Rossellini, Elisabeth Röhm and Bradley Cooper. It opens Christmas Day.
