I KNEW they were setting up Kai and Nick to break up. If this review were a courtroom, I would ask you to bring up my last review where I said the writers were potentially setting the scene for Kai to break up with Nick over his new found ambition.

I have a love hate with Christmas themed shows with a strong romantic comedy background. The fact that almost this entire episode takes place in the airport, is an homage to all those rom-com Christmas movies (and, really, any romantic comedy) come before it.

New Girl is on a roll. They’ve really found their rhythm this season, and I’m so glad. This show started out so well, became one of the best single camera sitcoms on network television in season two, and then faltered in three.

Bangsgiving. The premise of this episode is very frat-guy, but the writers and actors manage to make it an incredibly endearing episode. Schmidt, in a ridiculous hat continues what he’s been doing all season, trying to get all the flatmates (and Cece) back out there.

Nick is teaching Schmidt how to do laundry, and Winston how to use a ruler?! This was a relatively strong episode of New Girl, where the writers are revealing character via a tried but true “guys weekend,” as Jess and Coach attend a teacher’s conference.

Throwback to comedy magician! The beginning of the episode was a strong start, but overall I’m really torn on how I feel about this episode. Last week was so strong. It felt like it was getting back on track.

Contrary to Nick’s song “I’m a very good secretary,” he is absolutely the opposite of that. They get an answering machine for the loft, to let Nick go from his “position”. He goes into a very Nick-like monologue about peasants, technology, and machines becoming self-aware.

This has been the strongest episode of the season thus far, and even stronger than much of season three. It finally feels like New Girl is getting back on the rails this week, putting its characters into situations that are outlandish, but still relate-able to normal humans.
