Fury (2014)

David Ayer has far from a solid track record. His first two efforts, Street Kings and Harsh Times, are largely forgotten and undiscussed, End of Watch showed a common premise that managed to use the found footage conceit effectively, and then he let us all down with the giant Schwarzenegger sized turd of Sabotage. So to say I’m curious for Fury is an understatement. Ayer doesn’t pull any punches and his take on World War II promises to be unrelenting. Plus the last time Brad Pitt did WW2 we got Inglourious Basterds, which is hard to complain with. The official plot synopsis follows:

April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

Fury also stars Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman, and is scheduled to hit US theaters October 22nd.
