Those seeing The Force Awakens next week (so, pretty much the entire planet) will see a barrage of new trailers attached to the film, the latest of which has debuted online. Bryan Singer returns to the franchise he created to direct James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Rose Byrne and Lucas Till in X-Men: Apocalypse. And those are just the returning cast members.

With the tremendous critical and box office success for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the next installment had a lot to live up to. Enter Oscar Isaac as the intimidating and terrifying Apocalypse, the first mutant to ever walk the earth who wants to destroy the earth and replace it with a new one. There is lots at stake, and Isaac could go down in history as an incredible villain.

Other new additions to the cast include Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munn, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Ben Hady and Lana Condor. The film is set for a May 27, 2016, release date.

Synopsis:

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
