We’re just a few days out from The Mummy opening in theaters, but Universal has already unveiled a look at their other Tom Cruise flick, American Made. The project reteams Cruise and his Edge of Tomorrow (or is it Live Die Repeat?) director Doug Liman.
Based on a true story and adapted from Greg Spinelli’s blacklisted script, American Made tells the story of Bary Seal, who flew planes for the CIA and ran drugs during the 1980s. I’m curious to see if and how this flick sets itself apart from other entries into the genre, but I’m so very excited to see Cruise take a role in a film that isn’t explicitly an action movie. Tom Cruise covered in cocaine? We should be so lucky.
American Made opens in theaters September 29. It also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright, Caleb Landry Jones, and Jesse Plemmons.
