Peter Prentice is gone! Mindy is pregnant! Mindy loves San Francisco! Danny bought a brownstone! SO much happened in this thirty minute sitcom, and though all of what I just typed above, sounds like it could have made it a terrible episode, the writers are so strong on this show, it worked in every way.
Adam Pally is leaving, oh merciful heavens why!? I had to get that out of my system, ever since I heard the news, I’ve been so upset and couldn’t wait to write it down, to feel some slight catharsis.
The Mindy Project has to be my favorite comedy on network television right now. The writing is incredibly strong and the characters are so fully fleshed out that when I see a character reacting to something, it always makes sense to me. Of course Danny would do this, of course Mindy would say that.
I love Rhea Perlman. She is perfect in this role. Her and Chris Messina together sell the Italian, single mother/son duo so well. I fear they may end up overusing her character, but when you’re dating a man like this, I believe his mother would make this many appearances in your life.
Rob Huebel! Peter in his natural bro habitat! Mindy and Danny in an elaborate lie together! What Mindy Project lacked last week, it gets back on track, with a solid episode featuring some of the best one-liner’s the show has come up with yet.
“I Slipped”, is about the classic conundrum of “dude putting it in the wrong hole”. When Mindy and Danny are in the bedroom, he, whoops, goes for the back-end instead. But according to Peter - bro and sexual deviant extraordinaire, Danny didn’t do this by accident.
This season seems set to navigate the difficulties of Mindy and Danny’s opposites attract relationship, and they are doing it hilariously, if not infuriatingly.
The dreaded “girlfriend meets mother” episode was upon us last night. So far, writers on The Mindy Project have played it smart with Mindy and Danny’s relationship. These two characters are just opposite enough that the tension remains consistent, and always stays fresh.
Danny Castellano was a stripper - it’s such a brilliant avenue for the writers to take with his passion for dancing. Danny has a gazillion secrets, and Mindy is a completely open book who tells the entire office sordid details about their sex life. Complete opposites who totally work.
